On Wednesday, 11 September 2013 CSSP and Mediation Center Mitrovica hosted a meeting with the representatives of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the Civil Society activists in Kosovo.

CSSP/MCM had a pleasure to host foreign policy adviser of Germany’s ruling coalition CDU/CSU Han-Joachim Falenski and Mrs. Anja Czymmeck from KAS together with different Mitrovica’s and Prishtina’s local organizations in our Southern Office in Mitrovica. Mr.Falenski said that he visited Kosovo and Mitrovica especially to see from the firsthand how the processes are developing and in which way they will proceed in the future.

He said that Kosovar Civil Society must be an active part of developing in Kosovo generally and Mitrovica in particular because NGO’s in this area are a mechanism of delivering the grassroots voice to the top decision-makers. He also emphasized the need for implementation of the agreement made in Brussels between Belgrade and Prishtina, for the normalization of the relations, and the focus of his visit was to see personally the implementation of the agreement made in particular for the northern Kosovo.

The representatives of NGO have said that the normalization of the relations depends on EU integration and that the EU should support Prishtina and Belgrade in their way towards integration. The meeting concluded with a willingness of the participants to exchange ideas and comments in the future regarding the issue. Mr.Falenski and Mrs. Czymmeck thank Mr.Bekim Ismaili, the Head of MCM, for the support offered in organization of the meeting.
